In preparation for a successful term Dr. Zsolt Nyitrai held a series of consultations during his two-day Brussels visit.

Dr. Zsolt Nyitrai, Minister of State of the National Ministry of Development held talks with ten top EU officials on the preparation and the handover of presidency tasks during his two-day visit in Brussels since he will chair the European Telecommunications Council from January 2011.

Nyitrai met with Neelie Kroes, European Commissioner for Digital Agenda, Hungarian EU Commissioner László Andor, Anthony Whelan, Head of Cabinet for the EU Commissioner for Digital Agenda, Ilsa Godlovitch, Director of ECTA’s Brussels Office, Klaus Gretschmann from the General Secretariat of the Telecommunications Council, Michael Bartholomew, Director of ETNO, Robert Madelin, Director-General of DG INFSO, Sokratis Katsikas, Greek General Secretary for Communications, Udo Helmbrecht, Executive Director of ENISA, and Vincent Van Quickenborne Belgian Minister in charge of Telecommunications and Information Society who will handover the chair of the Telecommunications Council to Zsolt Nyitrai from January 2011.

The primary goal of the bilateral meetings was to commence sector-specific preparations in relation to the Hungary’s EU Presidency. Following his talks Zsolt Nyitrai noted that living up to expectations will be an outstanding challenge but Hungary will also seize a historic opportunity with this debut on the world political stage, taking a leadership role in the forming of Europe’s future.
